Fiber One Protein Cereal Photos and Review

Free from BzzAgentfiberone

I recently had the chance to try the new Fiber One Protein Cereal via BzzAgent. I got to try two flavors: Cranberry Almond and Maple Brown Sugar.

Fiber One

This is the Fiber One Protein Cereal in Cranberry Almond. It has a strong berry scent to it. I didn’t taste a lot of almond in it but I could definitely taste the berries. It was okay but a little on the sweet side for my liking. My oldest son really loved it so he’s been enjoying it each morning.

Fiber One

This is the Fiber One Protein Cereal in Maple Brown Sugar. This one had an intense maple scent to it. It was also super sweet to me, much sweeter than I prefer cereal to be. Even my children commented on how sweet this was and that they preferred less sweet options for breakfast. Of course I didn’t want to waste a perfectly good box of cereal so I decided to make cereal bars out of them. We mixed this with marshmallow and butter like you would with a crispy treat and turned it into a dessert instead. They enjoyed them once we transformed them.

Both flavors of the cereal had a great crunch and stayed crunchy in milk. They have different little shapes of goodies in them to keep the texture interesting as well. I would purchase the cranberry almond flavor again for my son but won’t be purchasing the maple brown sugar flavor due to it’s intense sweetness.

Kroger Skillet Meals Photos and Review

Free from BzzAgent

Kroger Skillet MealsI was given the opportunity to try a Kroger Skillet Meal along with a Kroger Salad Kit and Kroger Garlic Bread from BzzAgent. As a mom of 4 who cooks every day I am always looking for homemade “fast food” for those days when I just don’t have the time or energy to make a big elaborate meal from scratch. These are a great answer to that problem that won’t break your budget.

Kroger Salad

I decided to choose Kroger Caesar Salad Mix Kit for our salad choice. You can find these in the salad area near the produce of your grocery store. I have a very picky daughter that hates eating most salad but she loves caesar salad. This was super fast to whip up. The lettuce was all chopped up in bite sized pieces. It came with dressing, croutons and long shreds of parmesan cheese. I just opened it all up and tossed it together. This was a big hit.

Kroger Penne

For our main dish we opted for Kroger Tuscan-Style Penne. It is penne pasta in a garlic cream sauce with bits of asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and big chunks of chicken. You will find this in your regular freezer section. The product was very easy to prepare. You literally just pop it into a skillet and cook it for a few minutes while everything warms up. You don’t have to add anything, it is all in there already. Sometimes frozen products tend to lack flavor but that was not the case here. This was absolutely pack with flavor. 3 of my 4 kids don’t like asparagus but all of them ate every single piece out of their bowl. Having said that, this is not just kid food. I really enjoyed it as well.

Kroger Bread

Our last side dish was Kroger Garlic Bread. You will find this product near the frozen bread section of your grocery store. This was very easy to prepare as well. We just popped both pieces onto a cookie sheet and tossed it in the oven for a few minutes. I usually don’t like frozen garlic bread because the spread usually taste weird to me. It always coats my tongue. This tasted very buttery and not so oily. Great garlic flavor, soft on the inside, toasty on the outside.

All in all this meal was a huge hit with my kids and I had it all on the table in less than 10 minutes. These are definitely options I will add to my cooking repertoire in the future for those nights when I just don’t have the time to make it from scratch.

Kashi Hummus Crisps Review

Free from BzzAgent

kashiBefore even tasting these I noticed one big thing. The difference in nutrition. With Kashi Hummus Chips you get 27 chips per serving that only have 120 calories, 3.5 grams of fat and 180 mg of sodium. With my regular Sea Salt & Vinegar potato chips you get 14 chips  per serving that have 150 calories, 8 grams of fat and 285 mg of sodium. Twice the amount of crisps per serving and it is still healthier.

None of that matters if the chips don’t taste good though. These were very light and airy. They were crispy but not too thick. They had nice flavoring but it was a little uneven. Some chips were much more seasoned than others. We tried them with two different kinds of dip and they didn’t break under pressure. My children all liked them quite well too.

I received the Sea Salt and Olive Oil Kashi Hummus Crisps but I suspect I would have liked the Caramelized Onion flavor much more. I will be trying that flavor soon. These would be a great snack for anyone, especially those of us who are trying to eat healthier without giving up our snacks.

Hormel Rev Wraps

Free from BzzAgentrevWhen I think of the Hormel brand I think of meat and chili. It is one of those brands that most of us are familiar with. I had a chance to try Hormel Rev Wraps via BzzAgent.

Rev

Each Rev Wrap has at least 15 grams of protein with a touch of carbohydrates to keep your energy level up. These convenient snacks come in 12 different flavors from Turkey & Cheese to Pepperoni Pizza. We chose Meat Lover’s  Pizza which includes pepperoni, spicy salami, genoa salami, and mozzarella cheese. It was all wrapped up in what they call a “soft white wrap”. It is similar to a tortilla but a little thicker. We decided to try it with some pizza sauce for dipping.

RevWhat we liked:

  • Good quality meat and cheese
  • Convenient
  • Portable
  • Great source of protein without a large portion size
  • Low sugar content
  • Lots of flavor choices

What we didn’t like:

  • A little pricey for what you get
  • The soft white wrap was a little too thick
  • The soft white wrap got a little soggy in the fridge overnight

Conclusion: These are definitely teenager food due to being hand held and loaded with meat. These are great for on the go days because they are tasty, readily available and filling. They would be perfect for sporting events, camping, going to the beach or anywhere else you would have a cooler and not a lot of space. I probably wouldn’t buy them for home use because they are very easy to make. As a mother of 4 who is very budget conscious, I could also make them for much cheaper.

Morning Star Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets Photos and Review

morningstar

Good afternoon all! As some of you already know I am a BzzAgent where I get to try stuff and give my honest reviews. The great part is that they are looking for real reviews and not just a perfect rating. This is one of my latest campaigns: Morning Star Farms. The make meatless products like their Grillers, Buffalo Wings, Chik Patties, and BBQ Riblets.

Now I must preface my review by stating that I am not vegetarian or vegan so my opinions come from the mind and taste buds of someone who eats meat.

PTbzz1

I chose to try the Morning Star Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets. They looked pretty delectable on the box. So I grabbed them up and brought them home. They come frozen, two large portions per package. They are cholesterol free, vegetarian and kosher.

PTbzz2

I was initially going to add other stuff to it but to be honest, I just wanted to taste this in it’s simple form so I just tossed it between two buns. It has lots of sauce that comes with it which is really nice because I love saucy sandwiches. The BBQ sauce on these is super yummy. It’s that great mixture of sweet and savory that you look forward to when you think of BBQ. It’s not spicy at all. The patty itself does have a meaty texture a bit like pork. It was soft, moist and very tender. Did it taste exactly like meat? Of course not. It was pretty darn close though.

So why should you try these? Those that are vegetarian may miss the flavors they once enjoyed and this might be a nice treat. Even for meat eaters, this is a great way to have a satisfying meal without all of the fat, calories and cholesterol. This is perfect for kids because most of them love saucy BBQ riblets.

Graze Box Photos and Review

Yes, it’s true. I have stumbled upon another subscription box. It’s called Graze Box*. This one sends you snack items. They send it weekly and you and you can skip weeks if you desire. You can browse their site and choose to “love, like, try or trash” any of their snacks. Love means they will send it regularly, like means they will send it occasionally, try means they will send it once, and trash means they will never send it to you. I actually love that system. Anyway, here is my first box:

Graze This is how your box shows up. Simple. Recyclable. Yay!

GrazeI opened it to see my 4 snacks and a welcome card.

GrazeFlip that card over and it has individual ingredients and nutritional information for your 4 snacks. It even lists allergens!

GrazePTgraze9This is Bakewell Tart. It is pretty straight forward including almonds, dried cranberries and cherry raisins. It was good, simple and I would ask for it again.

GrazeGrazeThis is Lost Army. It is a savory treat with rice and peanut cracker mixes. It is reminiscent of asian munchie mixes that I have had before. There weren’t any really hot ones though. It definitely had some teriyaki flavor in at least one of them. Pretty tasty, it will stay on my like list.

GrazeGrazeThis one is Hot Cross Yum. Yum is right!  When I opened it a rush of orange scent came out. I am not particularly fond of raisins but the orange infused raisins are so amazing next to the cinnamon honey almonds. I’ve never had anything that tasted like this before. The sponge pieces add a simple sweetness without being overwhelming. This was the best snack in my box hands down. It will definitely be on my love list.

GrazeGrazeThis is Marvelous Macaroon. This tastes as you would expect it to… like a coconut macaroon. It is quite sweet and definitely a dessert snack. It was pretty tasty so it will remain on my like list.

All in all, I think this box is worth it. I love trying new stuff and after getting the Hot Cross Yum I am addicted! Interested in try this subscription? Visit Graze*.

Smartfood Selects Photo and Review

I just tried some of the new Smartfood Selects that I received from BzzAgent. Here is what I tried:

This is the Smartfood Select Buffalo Cheddar Popcorn. This are loaded with seasoning and nice and crunchy. I am not a big fan of buffalo flavored anything but these were pretty good. They were a bit spicy and one of my daughters ran for water. I don’t mind a little heat so I enjoyed them. Would I purchase them again? Maybe, I am on the fence with these.

These are the Smartfood Selects Feta Herb Hummus Popped Chips and Garlic Tomato Basil Hummus Popped Chips. These were super tasty! The Feta Herb flavor were my favorite item of these three. They were light, airy, crispy and had amazing flavor. They weren’t heavy or greasy. I have already purchased more of these so yes I loved them. The Garlic Tomato flavor had a bit of a pizza taste to me. The kids really loved both flavors.
