Coppertone CLEARLYSheer Sunscreen photo and review

Free from BzzAgent

I recently had the pleasure of trying the new Coppertone CLEARLY Sheer family of sunscreens. I think most of us have purchased Coppertone products at some point. I remember my mom having to chase me down to get sunscreen onto me as a kid. It always had that funny smell when you put it on but it worked. I think Coppertone realized they needed a makeover and that is exactly what they have given us.

We spend a lot of time in the pool, playing games outdoors and just going about daily life. The regular lotions are perfect for applying before you go out. They applied easily, weren’t too greasy and had a nice fresh scent. They are all water resistant for up to 80 minutes which is super fantastic for the pool and beach.

The great thing is that the sunscreen comes in spray as well. This is the one that really sold me. After my kids have been doing cannonballs in the pool sunscreen tends to wear off, no matter which brand it is. The Coppertone ClearlySheer was quick and easy to apply with the spray can. No more slippery sunscreen fingers trying to hold the beach ball or a hot dog at the beach. Just spray and go.

I am really happy I got to try this particular product. Between the ease of application, the level of SPF protection, and the fresh new scents, I am sold!

Fiber One Protein Cereal Photos and Review

Free from BzzAgentfiberone

I recently had the chance to try the new Fiber One Protein Cereal via BzzAgent. I got to try two flavors: Cranberry Almond and Maple Brown Sugar.

Fiber One

This is the Fiber One Protein Cereal in Cranberry Almond. It has a strong berry scent to it. I didn’t taste a lot of almond in it but I could definitely taste the berries. It was okay but a little on the sweet side for my liking. My oldest son really loved it so he’s been enjoying it each morning.

Fiber One

This is the Fiber One Protein Cereal in Maple Brown Sugar. This one had an intense maple scent to it. It was also super sweet to me, much sweeter than I prefer cereal to be. Even my children commented on how sweet this was and that they preferred less sweet options for breakfast. Of course I didn’t want to waste a perfectly good box of cereal so I decided to make cereal bars out of them. We mixed this with marshmallow and butter like you would with a crispy treat and turned it into a dessert instead. They enjoyed them once we transformed them.

Both flavors of the cereal had a great crunch and stayed crunchy in milk. They have different little shapes of goodies in them to keep the texture interesting as well. I would purchase the cranberry almond flavor again for my son but won’t be purchasing the maple brown sugar flavor due to it’s intense sweetness.

Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor Photos and Review

Free from BzzAgentI was given the opportunity to try the new Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor from BzzAgent. Now let me tell you my feelings on razors. I have tried a ton of them and most of them are great at first but then something goes wrong. They either dull too fast, have that horrible slimy strip that makes your skin all gross feeling or just don’t shave well enough. On top of it all I have super sensitive skin so most razors end up irritating my skin. Consequently I am very skeptical about trying any sort of new razor.

This is the Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor. It comes with one razor (head included), one refill and one razor mount to hang it up in the shower. Each razor head has 5 Curve Sensing blades, a guard around it, and a Hypoallergenic Serum strip. Here is the head up close:

The one thing I noticed right off the bat was that the Hypoallergenic Serum strip didn’t have that gooey translucent look that most strips do. The guard was medium sized so it didn’t get in the way of shaving like some bulkier ones do. I was actually quite surprised how much I liked this razor. It gave me a nice clean shave even around the ankles and knees. It left my skin feeling softer than normal afterward. I didn’t experience any razor burn either which is fantastic for me since I usually do.

Next I decided to conduct a secondary test… the husband. So I took my razor head off and popped on the refill. He is super picky about razors. I secretly think it is because he is a clumsy shaver and nicks himself a lot but we won’t tell him that. So after trying it he has declared that he does in fact like this razor. He was nick free and smooth shaven. Truth be told, he ended up stealing it from me so I have to buy another.

If you want to learn more about it you can go check out Schick on Facebook or their website.

Kashi Hummus Crisps Review

Free from BzzAgent

kashiBefore even tasting these I noticed one big thing. The difference in nutrition. With Kashi Hummus Chips you get 27 chips per serving that only have 120 calories, 3.5 grams of fat and 180 mg of sodium. With my regular Sea Salt & Vinegar potato chips you get 14 chips  per serving that have 150 calories, 8 grams of fat and 285 mg of sodium. Twice the amount of crisps per serving and it is still healthier.

None of that matters if the chips don’t taste good though. These were very light and airy. They were crispy but not too thick. They had nice flavoring but it was a little uneven. Some chips were much more seasoned than others. We tried them with two different kinds of dip and they didn’t break under pressure. My children all liked them quite well too.

I received the Sea Salt and Olive Oil Kashi Hummus Crisps but I suspect I would have liked the Caramelized Onion flavor much more. I will be trying that flavor soon. These would be a great snack for anyone, especially those of us who are trying to eat healthier without giving up our snacks.

Hormel Rev Wraps

Free from BzzAgentrevWhen I think of the Hormel brand I think of meat and chili. It is one of those brands that most of us are familiar with. I had a chance to try Hormel Rev Wraps via BzzAgent.

Each Rev Wrap has at least 15 grams of protein with a touch of carbohydrates to keep your energy level up. These convenient snacks come in 12 different flavors from Turkey & Cheese to Pepperoni Pizza. We chose Meat Lover’s  Pizza which includes pepperoni, spicy salami, genoa salami, and mozzarella cheese. It was all wrapped up in what they call a “soft white wrap”. It is similar to a tortilla but a little thicker. We decided to try it with some pizza sauce for dipping.

RevWhat we liked:

  • Good quality meat and cheese
  • Convenient
  • Portable
  • Great source of protein without a large portion size
  • Low sugar content
  • Lots of flavor choices

What we didn’t like:

  • A little pricey for what you get
  • The soft white wrap was a little too thick
  • The soft white wrap got a little soggy in the fridge overnight

Conclusion: These are definitely teenager food due to being hand held and loaded with meat. These are great for on the go days because they are tasty, readily available and filling. They would be perfect for sporting events, camping, going to the beach or anywhere else you would have a cooler and not a lot of space. I probably wouldn’t buy them for home use because they are very easy to make. As a mother of 4 who is very budget conscious, I could also make them for much cheaper.

Maybelline Fit-Me Shine Free Foundation

Free from Maybelline

I received the new Maybelline Fit-Me Shine Foundation from Maybelline to test out and review. I was honestly a little hesitant at this one because I am not really a stick makeup sort of lady. I decided to try it anyway, so here are my thoughts.

First impression before application: The packaging appeals to me because it is sleek and will fit great in my purse. Visually it looks very thick, almost like a stick concealer. There is no obvious scent which is great for sensitive skin.

Thoughts after application: The product is much smoother than it looks. My skin didn’t have that heavy mask feeling you get when you wear some foundations. It feels very soft and velvety. I blended it with my fingers the first day. It turned out alright but a little uneven. The second day I blended it using my flat head buffing brush. It really made a huge difference. It created a perfect medium coverage and helped hide my pores and uneven skin. It dried to a powdery finish and left my face feeling very soft. I didn’t even have to wear a powder with it. I love finding a product that allows me to skip steps!

Thoughts after 8 hours: I am still not shiny after 8 hours which is amazing. I was outside in 100+ degree weather for over an hour and it didn’t get messy on me. It didn’t seem to settle into my pores and fine lines like most do. I have extremely sensitive skin and I haven’t had any problems with this product so far. The product didn’t melt in my purse in the heat either which means this is great for travel or on the go use.

Conclusion: Although this isn’t a full coverage foundation, it really had great staying power. It is also readily available and has a low price point. The color I chose was a tad too yellow on me but very close. I think these sticks would be perfect for foundation contouring. I would love to see more than 12 shades in the future. I would definitely recommend this product. Since then I have purchases another one that was a more perfect color match.

Dr. Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insole Photo and Review

Free from InfluensterDr Scholl's

I received the Sun-Kissed VoxBox from Influenster last week. I will be reviewing the products one by one. Today I will be showing you Dr Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insoles. I have tried a few types of insoles. Most of the time they are good for work shoes or in anything you walk a lot in but no one sees the inside. Most insoles are bulky and you don’t really want people to know you are wearing them.

As you can see from the pictures, these are quite slender and more petite than I even expected. They don’t go all the way down to your toes so they don’t poke out at the end, which I really like. They are reinforced down near the ball of your foot which is great since that is where our weight hits the hardest.

ShoesI used them in my strappy wedges. As you can see you can place them how you wish. The bottom isn’t super sticky so it won’t leave your pretty shoes all filmy and sticky. All in all they were pretty good. They made my feet more comfortable while walking in these, especially on the front ball. They are a great option for ladies out there who need a little relief for their feet but don’t want to sacrifice style.

Ivory 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash

I received the Ivory 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash from Influenster to try. I tried it first. It smelled nice and felt smooth. It was a nice body wash but didn’t work well for me for my hair. My hair is very long and needs more conditioner. Then I passed it on to my son who loves it. It gets his hair nice and even managed to clean the teenage smell off of him. Haha. So while it didn’t end up being my perfect product, it definitely worked for some of my kids. We have even purchased more since then. Thanks to Influenster for this product!

Birchbox January 2013 Photos and Review

I am a member of Birchbox, a monthly subscription service for beauty products. Here is what I received in my January box.

Description of our goodies

Description of our goodies

After removing the card, this is what I saw

After removing the card, this is what I saw

BirchboxThis is Ojon damage reverse™ Instant Restorative Hair Serum. It is a decent hair oil to tame down unruly and dry hair. It is a nice light oil with a subtle scent. Not sure if I would purchase again because I don’t have unruly hair.

BirchboxThis is Harvey Prince Skinny Chic Eau de Toilette. This stuff smells absolutely amazing! It has been a really long time since I said that about a perfume. It smells like pears, apples and something else sweet and light. It isn’t sickeningly sweet like some perfumes though. I am definitely buying this one again.

BirchboxThis is alessandro Nail Polish in Blue Lagoon. The formula was a bit thick but I didn’t have a problem getting it on. As you can see it is a nice medium blue. It’s a pretty color but I have others like it already.

BirchboxThis is theBalm® cosmetics Put a Lid On It™ Eyelid Primer. You put this on before your eye products to help them stay longer. It works really well and doesn’t irritate my skin so I can recommend this one as well.

This is Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. It is a rich face cream that isn’t greasy. It does have a very strong scent of cucumbers that I don’t like but it dissipates quickly. I would love to purchase this again but am not sure if I will do so because it is a bit pricey.

All in all this was a great box. It was probably the best Birchbox I have received so far.

Influenster Holiday Voxbox 2012

I received a lovely holiday voxbox from Influenster and here are the goodies I received in it:

KISS Nail Dress in a gemmed leopard print. These are so fun. They are quick to get on and off and work great for last minute manicures. My daughters love using them too!

Quaker Real Medleys Peach Almond Oatmeal is a single serving oatmeal with peaches and almonds in it. You just put a little water in it, stick it in the microwave for 45 seconds and it’s ready. It has a sweet, subtle peach taste to it. The almonds add a nice crunch. Peach isn’t my favorite flavor but based on eating this, I would definitely try other flavors.

Goody’s Quikstyle Paddle Brush looks sort of odd with all of those blue things sticking out amongst the bristles but it is an interesting idea. They squeeze against your wet hair to help soak up the water and dry faster. My hair gets tangled so easily and this brush slides right through it. I was pretty impressed with this honestly.

Montagne Jeunesse Fruit Smoothie Deep Pore Cleansing Masks is one of those fun single use masks. I have bought these previously and have a great time using them. This one in particular is quite fruity smelling. It makes your skin feel super soft afterward.

NYC Liquid Lipshine is a nice smooth lip gloss. It isn’t super sticky and it has medium coverage. Mine came in NYC 582 which is a light warm brown, almost bordering on a nude. It has a wonderful butterscotch or caramel scent. I would definitely repurchase this in another color.

Eboost Natural Energy is a dietary supplement and immune booster. It doesn’t say how much water to mix with this so I guessed about 6 ounces. Wrong. It was unbelievably strong. I ended up melting it into about 16 ounces of water. It has a fake pink lemonade taste to it with a very bitter aftertaste. This may be good for you but I can’t see myself purchasing it simply because I really disliked the taste. I let my kids taste it and they all loved it. I guess it depends on the sensitivity of your palette.

All in all I was really please that I got this box. Thank you Influenster!
