Maybelline Fit-Me Shine Free Foundation

Free from Maybelline

I received the new Maybelline Fit-Me Shine Foundation from Maybelline to test out and review. I was honestly a little hesitant at this one because I am not really a stick makeup sort of lady. I decided to try it anyway, so here are my thoughts.

First impression before application: The packaging appeals to me because it is sleek and will fit great in my purse. Visually it looks very thick, almost like a stick concealer. There is no obvious scent which is great for sensitive skin.

Thoughts after application: The product is much smoother than it looks. My skin didn’t have that heavy mask feeling you get when you wear some foundations. It feels very soft and velvety. I blended it with my fingers the first day. It turned out alright but a little uneven. The second day I blended it using my flat head buffing brush. It really made a huge difference. It created a perfect medium coverage and helped hide my pores and uneven skin. It dried to a powdery finish and left my face feeling very soft. I didn’t even have to wear a powder with it. I love finding a product that allows me to skip steps!

Thoughts after 8 hours: I am still not shiny after 8 hours which is amazing. I was outside in 100+ degree weather for over an hour and it didn’t get messy on me. It didn’t seem to settle into my pores and fine lines like most do. I have extremely sensitive skin and I haven’t had any problems with this product so far. The product didn’t melt in my purse in the heat either which means this is great for travel or on the go use.

Conclusion: Although this isn’t a full coverage foundation, it really had great staying power. It is also readily available and has a low price point. The color I chose was a tad too yellow on me but very close. I think these sticks would be perfect for foundation contouring. I would love to see more than 12 shades in the future. I would definitely recommend this product. Since then I have purchases another one that was a more perfect color match.

I received this product free of charge from Maybelline via in exchange for my honest review. Please read my disclosure statement for more information.

Insider’s Choice Beauty Box

Beauty Bar occasionally does a promotion where they have special items or boxes on sale. I managed to get in on the latest one. Here is what I received:

Contents of the box:

  • Burt’s Bees Richly Replenishing Cocoa & Cupuacu Butters Body Lotion: This stuff smells great and is smooth and rich.
  • Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia: Very sheer color mixed with wonderful Burt’s Bees balm. Love it.
  • StriVectin Tightening Neck Cream: I haven’t tried this yet because it has a bad smell. I will update it after I use it a few times.
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer: This stuff works great, but it is super thick. I squeezed a tiny bit out and it was way too much. Nice product though.
  • Dr. T’s Supergoop All-Over Everyday UV Lotion SPF 30: This works good and seems almost sweatproof. It does have a familiar smell to it. I reminds me of the old Coppertone sunscreens my mom used to put on me as a child.
  • Sally Hansen SalonEffects Nail Color Strips in Animal Instinct x2: My daughters are after these so I probably won’t get a hold of them lol
  • L’Occitane Lavender Hand Cream:This stuff smells like lavender big time and I dislike lavender so I will be passing it on to my mom. The cream itself was very rich and smooth.
  • Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind: This stuff works good as long as you blend it in really well. Would use again.
  • Shine by Heidi Klum: I didn’t care for the perfume Shine much. It smells unpleasant in the bottle and even worse on me.
  • L’Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes: This was nice mascara. It wasn’t too goopy or dry. The wand was quite long but I ended up liking how it looked.
  • L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Serum Intense: I was really surprised by just how much I liked the L’Oreal Youth Code serum. It is a super light anti-aging serum that makes my face feel wonderfully soft.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Have a great day 🙂
