Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor Photos and Review

Free from BzzAgentI was given the opportunity to try the new Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor from BzzAgent. Now let me tell you my feelings on razors. I have tried a ton of them and most of them are great at first but then something goes wrong. They either dull too fast, have that horrible slimy strip that makes your skin all gross feeling or just don’t shave well enough. On top of it all I have super sensitive skin so most razors end up irritating my skin. Consequently I am very skeptical about trying any sort of new razor.

This is the Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor. It comes with one razor (head included), one refill and one razor mount to hang it up in the shower. Each razor head has 5 Curve Sensing blades, a guard around it, and a Hypoallergenic Serum strip. Here is the head up close:

The one thing I noticed right off the bat was that the Hypoallergenic Serum strip didn’t have that gooey translucent look that most strips do. The guard was medium sized so it didn’t get in the way of shaving like some bulkier ones do. I was actually quite surprised how much I liked this razor. It gave me a nice clean shave even around the ankles and knees. It left my skin feeling softer than normal afterward. I didn’t experience any razor burn either which is fantastic for me since I usually do.

Next I decided to conduct a secondary test… the husband. So I took my razor head off and popped on the refill. He is super picky about razors. I secretly think it is because he is a clumsy shaver and nicks himself a lot but we won’t tell him that. So after trying it he has declared that he does in fact like this razor. He was nick free and smooth shaven. Truth be told, he ended up stealing it from me so I have to buy another.

Luxebox Fall 2012

I recently discovered Luxebox from Loose Button. They were previously a Canadian only subscription but have branched out to us Americans. This is my fall seaonsal box. I was pleasantly surprised by what I received:

The absolutely beautiful box and packaging that it came in.

Schick Hydro Silk Razor: This is a pretty nice razor. It works smoothly but occasionally leaves me with a touch of razor burn.

Vichy Refreshing Face Toner: This stuff rocks. I love it. Great toner without drying my face out. Principessa Beauty Pretty Piede Foot Balm: This is nice foot balm for dry feet. It is smooth with a nice scent.

Orlane firming serum: This works ok, I have only used it twice so it’s really hard to tell. Orlane Super Moisturizer: This works well but has kinda of an odd scent.

Essie Nail Polish in Stylenomics. It is a dark forest green and very pretty. I am a huge Essie fan so I loved getting this. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish strips in a gold glitter color. I haven’t tried this color but I have had these before. They work ok but only for one or two days. They look nice though and give you a fancy look without taking forever.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid liner in Black. This is the second one of these I have received. I got one in my Birchbox a few months back and I adore these. They are super black, stay on well and because it is a pen style liner you have a lot of control. Super happy to have a backup!

Overall, this was a really great box. It was packaged beautifully with quality items and I would definitely recommend Luxebox to any beauty queens or those who are looking to get some fun stuff.

Birchbox August 2012

I received my Birchbox for August. Here is what I got:

They always have cute packaging. It is usually wrapped up and tied with a ribbon. So cute.

The first items were Comodynes Self-Tanning wipes. I have had allergic reactions to several tanning products so I passed on these.

The second item was Comodynes Hydra Tanning face moisturizing summer glow. As noted above, I passed these on to a friend due to sensitivity issues.

Next is the Viva La Juicy La Fleur. This is a sweet, fruity perfume with a floral undertone. Very girly for sure!

Here we have the Schick Hydro Silk razor and I have to say, this was my favorite item in the box. I thought because it was so bulky that it would be hard to use but it wasn’t. I really love it. I am super clumsy when shaving and I didn’t nick myself at all. Would definitely buy again.

These are Beauty Fixation makeup removing swabs. The swabs themselves were fine. They contain makeup remover in the stick. You snap off one end and it is meant to be used around hard to reach nooks and crannies like the eyes. The swabs I received were poorly packaged. Two of them were just floating around the box unwrapped and one was about to fall off. Packaging aside they were just ok. I already have swabs and makeup remover.

The last item was the DDF Brightening Cleanser. The cleanser has a mild fruity smell to it and it cleans properly. As for the brightening, I am not sure yet since I have only used it three times. No noticeable difference but these type of items usually take an extended period of time to show the difference.

All in all, I was sort of bummed with this box. I wish I could opt out of self-tanners on Birchbox. I guess this is what sampling is about though, trying out new things and seeing what fits with your beauty regimen.
